"100 Ways to Celebrate Downtown" Holiday Event

There are at least 100 ways (see the list below!) to mark the holiday season in Downtown Davis, and Thursday, December 4 will be the evening to start enjoying them!

All of your favorite traditions return to Downtown Davis!

Schedule is as follows, as of 12/2/08 (subject to change due to unforeseen weather conditions or other factors beyond DDBA's control):

5:30 p.m. - line up begins at Davis Food Co-op, 620 G Street, for Children's Parade - PLEASE PARK IN GARAGE AT 4th & G STREETS

5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - Sounds of the Davis Chorale and cookie reception, hosted by St. James Church, 900 block of 3rd Street

5:45 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - Davis Children's Tree Lighting Choir performs in E Street Plaza, 200 block of E Street

6:00 p.m. - Children's Parade, led by Santa and Mrs. Claus on the Davis Fire Department's antique truck, accompanied by the Cal Aggie Band-uh, departs Davis Food Co-op, south on G Street, west on 3rd Street, south on E Street and in to E Street Plaza

6:00 p.m.  - First screening of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at the Varsity Theatre, 616 2nd Street.  Subsequent screenings at 6:40 p.m., 7:20 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.

6:00 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. - Davis High School Madrigals perform in E Street Plaza

6:20 p.m. - Mayor Ruth Asmundson and Davis City Council members take the stage in E Street Plaza

6:30 p.m. - Mayor Asmundson calls for the illumination of the 2008 Davis Holiday Tree in E Street Plaza, followed by the sounds of the Cal Aggie Band-uh

6:30 p.m. - Holiday Open House begins, featuring extended shopping hours (until 8:30 p.m.) and punch receptions provided by local non-profit organizations, at selected businesses (click below for a list of participants)

6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. - Free horse-drawn wagon rides through the Downtown core, sponsored by Davis Food Co-op

6:40 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Music by the cello students of Priscilla Hawkins in The Avid Reader, 617 2nd Street

6:45 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. - Santa and his elves receive visitors on the south side of the E Street Plaza parking lot, photos available for a fee

6:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Live jazz and other holiday tunes performed in E Street Plaza, Grace Valley Carolers perform outside the Varsity Theatre
