February 22: Meet Dan Wolk
Our City Council is and important component in shaping Downtown Davis. With this being an election year where three seats on the City Council are up for grabs, the Davis Downtown Business Association (DDBA) wants to be sure that Downtown business owners get an opportunity to see what makes the City Council candidates tick.
On February 22, the DDBA is hosting a brown-bag lunch discussion with special guest Dan Wolk. Dan is a current member of the Davis City Council and is running for re-election.
This lunchtime forum will give downtown business owners and community members an opportunity to meet and talk with Dan about his vision for economic development in Downtown Davis, the growing arts and entertainment community, and insight to his freshman year on the Davis City Council.
"The last and only other time I spoke at a DDBA Brown Bag, I was a newly appointed city councilmember," said Wolk of his previous visit with the DDBA. "Now, an eventful year later, I have even more to share about the downtown, redevelopment, and economic vitality. I'm excited to share my ideas and hear the community's."
Stewart Savave, Director of the DDBA, commented, "We are looking forward to having Dan speak again to the DDBA and it's members. These lunchtime meetings enable us to build positive relationships with the leaders in our community which ultimately benefits the success of the City of Davis as a whole."
Dan Wolk is a graduate do Davis High School, holds a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University, and holds a law degree from UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall). He is a proud husband and father and currently works as Deputy County Counsel for Solano County in addition to his duties as a Davis City Council member.
The DDBA brown-bag luncheon will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the River City Bank conference room, 239 E Street, in Downtown Davis.
In working to promote and support a thriving Downtown, the DDBA actively advocates for the establishment of more space for entertainment and the arts, and encourages the creation of exciting shopping opportunities and diverse retail spaces. By expanding streetscape designs to that of a unique walkable promenade, additional space is created for public art, outdoor dining, live sidewalk entertainment, water features, public benches, bike racks and more.
Organized by DDBA's Visioning and Community Relations Committee, the Brown Bag lunch series facilitates thought-provoking dialogue regarding issues impacting Downtown Davis in a casual setting. The lunches typically are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
View the DDBA Event Calendar for meeting information and location.
Participants are welcome to bring a lunch or purchase one at any Downtown eatery.
